In Year 2, the children are encouraged to become more mature and independent. They are taught to use their own initiative and problem solve effectively in preparation for the transition to Key Stage 2.
The reading progress of the pupils is monitored and assessed using Probe – a half termly reading assessment. Parents are encouraged to read with their children every night and prepare for weekly spelling tests.
Although the Christmas story is re-told by the whole of Key Stage 1, when the children reach Year 2, it is their chance to take centre stage!
Responsible for all of the lead parts and the narrator roles, the children build on their confidence to speak publicly and perform to their parents and the rest of the school.
With dimmed lighting, beautifully sung carols and a wonderful re-telling of the Christmas Story, the Nativity completes the festive season at Servite- there’s not a dry eye in the room! Year 2 Trip to Littlehampton 2015
